Luxury Brown Paper Bags And Grocery Bags: Recession No More?

The economic recession must be subsiding as fashionistas are racing to buy brown paper and grocery bags to carry their lunch. This sounds confusing, right? Isn't this a cost-effective way to bring your lunch to work?

Well, brown-bagging has become a lot more expensive nowadays. These aren't just any brown paper and grocery bags---they are made of leather.

Jill Sander's Vasari Purse (pictured below) has broken rules, tipped the scale and stepped over the boundary of unassumingly luxurious accessories. Priced at $290, this bag is exponentially more expensive than any sandwich and snack one might pack in it.

It features a long rectangular silhouette and is crafted from coated paper, visible brown stitched seams at each side, two gold coloured metal eyelets and the words ‘Jill Sander’ are printed in black at the bottom, according to NY Daily News. And, it also comes in black, which is $360. Reviewing a black leather version of the bag ($360), W Magazine quoted the NY Daily News saying that the Vasari is “perfectly in sync with the fashion house’s minimalist roots. Forget recycling—this bag is a keeper."

This bag was first seen in the hands of male models on the runways earlier this year (pictured below), but it recently hit stores. According to the designer’s website, the bag is already sold out.

Los Angeles-based brand Stampd has also released a "brown paper bag" called the Bodega Bag (pictured below). It is modeled with a 40oz beverage. According to Fashion & Style, this luxurious leather paper bag is made from American cowhide and is available in both medium and small. The Bodega Bag comes in limited supply, with 50 pieces for each size. They were released on Wednesday, October 3.

Maison Martin Margiela is also contributing to this homeless-chic trend with its Leather Paper Bag (pictured below). This bag, resembling a grocery tote, is bigger than the previous two styles and sports some handy handles. It is also the most expensive, costing $763.

"The next time you toss away a brown paper bag you get from your local corner store, you may want to think twice ---you could be throwing away fashion's latest accessory," wrote Kadia Blagrove of Fashion & Style.

Introducing Ralph Lauren's Denim & Supply

This new line of clothing by Ralph Lauren is composed of vintage-worn looks. The tagline of the line says "a new collection mixing the authentic character of vintage pieces with a youthful, individualistic spirit. The debut ad on says "A movement born out of the artist communities in Brooklyn, NY-- young painters, poets, musicians and visionaries working together to generate a creative spirit in the middle of the city. This is their home." This line is amazing and is completely my style, so I am really excited to go to Macy's to get some pieces. They are also available on Prices range from about $60-$300 per item. These cool and relaxed updates to classical American fashion really are a home run for Ralph Lauren. Below are a few of my favorites...

Trend Report: Backpacks. Gearing Up For School.

Firstly, before i start this post, I just want to apologize to my readers that I haven't been writing many posts lately...I have been really busy with work and personal things that I haven't had any free time. I promise I will continue to make more of an effort to keep up my posts every week!

So, my little sister, Lindsay, is going off to college this weekend for the first time (tear). She has shopped and shopped and shopped! We searched at a bunch of different stores and a few different sites, and she ended up getting a really great backpack at Urban Outfitters. This inspired me to share some of my favorite fashionable backpacks, of different prices, out there right now, so you have an easier time finding a backpack of your own! Check these out...
